An all-day drive.  Destination: Jebel Barkal.  The Barkal Mountain.

Expect the unexpected in the desert.

A small family of wandering camels.

A fruit market beside a graceful mosque.

A nutritious lunch.

A large herd of camels at a watering hole.

The herders offer a light refreshment.  The camel milk has a rich texture with a slightly salty taste.  A healthful beverage to be sure.

A festive dinner.

Tomorrow: A hike to the Temple of Amun at Jebel Barkal and a Nile Cruise to the ruins and tombs at Kuru.
